How helpful are your automated systems for your tank in reality?

I was thinking about making an auto dosing setup sometime soon for ferts. The more I thought about it, the more I realize how simple it is to add them. I never really leave for long enough to really "need" anything like this. I still may do it for fun, but I can see it being kind of a pain at first, in a good, DIY way.

I was just wondering what automated systems people have installed that really save them time and energy. I would love a auto waterchange system but that isn't happening any time soon.
