ammonia bottle??

what kind of ammonia am i suppose to use for cycling, what would be the label name on the bottle, and how many drops to start? thanks

Most of us here do not do the ammonia cycle thing. Rex Grigg has some useful facts that explain the cycle.

If you are insistant on the ammonia thing, I believe you need to get straight ammonia. Be sure there is no soap or other cleaning agents added.

Momotaro is correct. Fishless cycling is for FISH tanks. It doesn't work quite as well in planted tanks. Read my FAQ on how the "silent cycle" works in a planted tank.

But if you are set on doing it the hard slow way then you need inexpensive generic/store brand ammonia. It must have no soap or scents added.

I use ammonia to keep small uninhabited, unplanted QT/hospital tanks cycled. Just get the cheapest ammonia you can find, but like stated make sure there are no dyes/perfumes in it.
