Sharing my noob experiences

Wanted to share what I've learned setting up my first planted tank.

1. First, when co2 stops you grow algae! I had a clean tank for first 2 weeks until my co2 unknown to me stopped working. I hooked it back up and now hair algae outbreak has died back almost completely.

2. Be careful who you buy plants from online. I bought most of my plants from an amazing online vendor, all flourished. However bought a couple from another guy online, sent in dry ziploc bags and all melted.

Still learning in this fascinating hobby! Glad to be part of this group.

I make a stock solution of salty shrimp remineralizer, it's in a two-litre milk jug. My water change jugs are also milk jugs, both two- and four-litres.

I once reached for the remineralizer to add about a litre of water to a small tank I was doing a partial WC in. Huh, I noticed it the next day, when I reached for the same jug again. It is now labeled on all sides, not just one. Even the cap is labeled now lol.

Thankfully the fish was fine. I did small partial WCs every day for a week or so to get the TDS close to usual.

According to my husband, I have a habit of jumping right in!
