Question Quarentine Tank

Is it reasonable to use a large rubbermaid type of tote for a quarentine tank? What besides a heater and filtration, lights do I need to consider? Will the plastic leach any toxins into the water or will it harbor toxins from the water? I am planning on ordering some fish and don't currently have a free tank.

It's OK

It is a lot harder to see the fish in a big bucket or tote but it works. I've used large 18 gallon buckets for pond fish, but they were large enough to see easily. So many fish are slim and darn near invisible from the top.

A sponge filter and a heater works, and something to prevent jumpers like netting or clear plastic.

But Walmart has 10 gallons for $9, not much more than a tote, really.

I don't know how much their prices vary by location, or whether you even have them in Texas, but my local PetSmart currently has 10g tanks on sale for $6 and 20g high tanks on sale for $20. I've never seen lower prices for either of these sizes.
