ARRRGHH! My shrimp only tank is full of fish!

Just a vent. I decided I was going to do a shrimp only tank. The tank has been up and running for months with no fish and just a couple of snails and plants. About 2 weeks ago I added a small patch of baby tears and a couple of stems of wisteria.

Last Friday I added about 20 Red cherries. Shortly after adding the cherries I notice a couple of small fish fry. I checked with the seller I got the cherries from and the assured me they had no fish in the shrimp tanks.

Today I look an there are about 20 small fry. I looked at them very closely hoping they were shrimp but they move with a fish motion and they have a definite fish shape. I guess there were some fertilized eggs that rode in with one of the 2 new plants. I have no idea what they are or what I'm going to do with them.

Arrrgghh!

Post some pics of the fry! Maybe we can ID them. (right away I am thinking Corydoras, my LFS keep corys in their tanks with plant stock)

I am sure it would be awhile before the fish get large enough to eat your shrimp.

See what they are first and if you don't want to keep them then list them on Craigslist or see if someone on here wants them.

Try contacting the plant seller to ask, they may be some tetra that they didn't realize were breeding. I've had neons spawn before and only knew when I spotted a few 1/2" clear tetra body shaped fish swimming around. What size is your tank?

That happened to me once. Eventually, the babies grew to the point where I could tell what they were: killifish.
