discus planted or a simple reef tank?

I have an extra 37gal (30x12x22) tank with stand, protein skimmer, sand. im hoping to setup a reef tank but ive been having second thoughts about it, so i was thinking doing a dirted discus tank. Between the two what would you prefer? just wanna get opinions/suggestions ;-)

I'd say that tank is a little small for adult discus, but I'm not an expert on them.

A reef tank that size could be a real gem, as long as you realize the limitations of that tank size. However consider the amount of extra money that can go into a reef system.

If I have to pick one, I'd likely go with the reef tank, but I don't expect too many people here to agree with me here, because it's a planted tank forum.

The answer could be "none of the above". You might consider other possible fish you could keep. Consider a tank more or less dedicated to one species. I'd tend to look for something that is not too common in your LFSs.

Yup - hate to say it - I'd love to see you go discus, but your tank is too small - you need at least 55 - 60 gals.
