Question eco-complete: boil it?

I have a bag of eco-complete that is being currently used in a 10g emersed setup.

There is a layer of gunk and dead plant matter on it and I would like to use it in a 5.5g build.

Should I just remove and wash it, or do i need to do anything special to it?

thanks

I wouldnt boil it as the bacteria would be killed off. I would rinse it in some old tank water a few times, like you normally would.

Remove the Eco Complete, give it a few rinses to get rid of the mulm, and then put it into your 5.5g.
