Good Bacteria?

How does good bacteria look like? are they microscopic so that we can never see them with our eyes? or are they the much that build up in/on our filters after a while? Or are they that dirty brown stuff that we vaccum from the gravel?

You can find pics of the bacteria under a microscope around the site. You cannot see them with the naked eye, the bacteria form a thin brown layer around all your equiptment where theres water flow. There are alot more in the sponges, bioballs, substrat, and gravel because of surface area.

The dirty brown stuff from the substrate is old fish food and fish waste which is called mulm as far as I've understood. There may be some bactieria in it but as others noted you won't be able to see it with the naked eye.
