Land and Aquatic Plants in FW Tanks

Just reread D Crosby Johnson's book on no water change tanks. Only thing is, he doesn't use aquatic plants, just the roots of land plants to remove the dissolved nitrogen from the tank water. Started using both aquatic and land plants in my tanks to keep the water close to nitrogen free. Attached pics of a couple of the tanks.

The fish love the cleaner water. Doesn't reduce the need for large water changes, but don't have to do them as often.

I saw in the most recent post about Corydoras sp. under the fish sub-forum you mentioned at least one of these tanks has emersed Aglaonema. I have a large specimen that I've been meaning to utilize this way in one of my low tech tanks to control nitrates. Did you use a full potted specimen or did you trim a shoot? The tank I'm wanting to use both this and Pothos is a 20g long.

Stock lightly and carry a big filter. - I don't have aquariums. I have ecosystems in a glass box. - Hygrophilaholic and hoarder of Anubias.
