Brown crud in filter tubing?

I have this brown crud in my filter tubing, i have been cycling the tank for about a month now, the lighting has been off most of the time because it dont have plants yet, but what is the brown stuff, it doesnt seem to be restricting water flow, and i havent put any fertilizers in yet, what is it and is it bad for the tank?

I can't see the pics at the moment (my end, not yours), but I'm going to guess it is the same brown crud that grows in any transparent/translucent tubing..

It's an algae.. It's not harmful, and it generally brushes out pretty easily with a long bottle brush..

I use one of these, but there are plenty of other kinds:
Note that on that brush, the stem is flexible, but the last 2" or so where the bristles are is stiff, which means it can't go through elbows.. It's more just convenient to coil it up when you're done with it.

I can see the images now.. that's normal, and pretty light compared to some of the stuff I get...

Yup, that's completely normal and unavoidable.

I cleaned my tubing yesterday because I did have reduced water flow. I believe mostly it was starting to block the small holes in the spray bar but i cleaned all the tubing anyway. This was on a tank that has only been running 1 month.

I also had the propeller stop turning in a hob filter. It would not start back after a water change. Took it off and found the same stuff. Cleaned it out, back to normal.
