Heating up

What do you guys do about these warm temps? Besides a chiller whats a way to keep the water cool. Mine has gone from 76-78 to about 82 today. Its getting hotter in cali

Run a small clip-on fan across the surface of the water. It will evaporate faster. You could also do larger water changes with cooler water, fish handle a drop in temp better than increases.

On smaller tanks, I've used those small walmart fans and have them blow across the tank to maintain the temp. This will mean more evaporation and bigger volume of top off. Not a problem if you have an automated top off system.

Central air was the best solution for me. You could use a fan. You could also use frozen water bottles a few times a day. If you do this though, remember to empty out some of the water before freezing it. I was putting 3 in the morning, and 3 in the afternoon. It kept my water temp from climbing at best. And that was back in the spring.

I run airline tubes to 80 gallon tank on a chiller, that only works though if you have a room with all your tanks.
