Spiny eels in a dirted tank?

Would it be ok to keep any species of spiny eels in a dirted tank? If possible would they harm any of the plants?

I don't think they would harm anything directly, but they sure do a lot of digging. For a dirted tank, I would think that's "automatic disqualification" of the fish.

I should have asked before i bought one but i couldn't resist the steal i got him for. He wasn't labeled and i asked an employee how much he was and he said $8 and then he asked his manager and they said it was $30 but since he said $8 he had to give it to me for the price I guess I'll put him in another tank
