Help me make this pot... please... :)

There's a nice setup I saw on youtube that I have some questions about. I currently have a 55 gallon barebottom discus tank.

1 - What kind of plants are potted on the right?

2 - If I want to replicate that pot - what substrate is best? where can I get a pot like that? what else do I need (fert tabs, etc)?

3 - What is the general likelihood of algae problems with this setup, and what severity of algae break out may occur?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYiTWTYUsQo

Thanks

- Yasmin

Interesting.
Many discus breeders do what most of us would consider massive water changes every day.

Yep - I do 60% a day. But how does that relate?

Sorry, I was at work with a short attention span earlier. I don't believe algae would be able to get established in a discus tank given the massive water changes. A quick weekly wipe with a sponge should clear things up nicely.

As for the pot, it looks like a bonsai pot to me. If you can't find it in one of the on line Bonsai catalogs, perhaps someone at the Department of Ceramics at Cranbrook Academy could help. Someone there will either make it for you or help you find a source. It isn't hard to get the name of a potter from the art department at MSU. There is a potters guild here as well.

Good luck.

Thank you. It's nice to meet a fellow michigander here!
