Help redoing planted tank

I am about to completely redo my planted tank with soil I have just finished mineralizing. I have a low-tech setup setup with DIY CO2 and will keep this. Can anyone point me to any great articles or threads that give tips about resetting up a tank? I have 4 tetras, a SA Puffer, 3 minnows and SAE. Any help would be appreciated!

What is the tank size, and what lighting will you use? The fish load makes me think it is a 10 gallon.

Its a 30 gallon aquarium, I've got about 1.5+ watts per gallon. Not ideal lighting I know but that's why I'm sticking with low tech for now. I'm hoping to upgrade in the future to a DIY lighting hood but won't be able to for a while. I have some java moss, one crypt and an anubia. Sorry I'm still a newbie here and don't know the exact names of everything I have!
