New Tank | Suggestions

Hello everyone! I recently joined this forum and have been very excited to start sharing my progress.

My tank is a 10 gallon. The filter is an eheim 2213 (waiting for my lily pipes to arrive before I bother starting it up). At the present I am using an old bio-wheel filter to keep the flow rate low while my new HC and Dwarf Sword Grass take root. I have a 5lb CO2 canister for my nano-pollen diffuser, but I still need my regulator (in the mail I hope). The tank is currently running on excel and ferts (2x weekly). The light is a 7100k PC @ 36Watts. The substrate is Eco-Complete (20lbs). I will hopefully get an inline heater soon too...

I still need rocks for my hardscape, but have been dissatisfied with what our LFS has to offer... They seem wrong for this dark soil or too sedimentary for a natural small scene. Any suggestions?

When I first introduced my plants my heater failed and the temp dropped to 60 degrees for approximately 10 hours. I believe I am still dealing with the affects of that problem with substantial die-offs. However, the new green is coming through with my HC and I have several new blades of Sword making their way up too.

-------------------------------------

Oh yea... and here is am image of the tank stand I am working on. It presently is on hold while I get more red oak. The wood was so dense that despite pre-drilling every hole, I snapped 1/4" carriage bolts like toothpicks. I'll have to approach it differently...

Enjoy!

John

New stand completed

Well, obviously I got no comments..

Regardless, here is my updated post in an effort to showcase what I am working on and hopefully someday hear some positive feedback and constructive criticism

Here is my new oak stand... completed for around 35 USD (including underneath LED light). I got the wood from my university wood shop and assembled it there as well. The oak was crazy dense and snapped my 1/4" lag screws like toothpicks. I had to resort to those nasty metal angles, so obvious to the viewer... *sigh*.

fully finished and braced with CO2 and eheim 2213 on the shelf

The tank will move over soon, but I am waiting for my zebra rocks and lily pipes to arrive before I do the shift. I will re-scape at that time to go for a more iwagumi feel.

This is my goal...

Thanks for your interest. Any thoughts?
