I use this food and it makes a good mess after feeding. I heard this is quality food but I don't like what it does to the water. Is there better options out there for a community tank?

I want high quality but not to messy.

NLS makes pellets in several sizes and formulations.

Omega one makes a good product.

I use Hagen Nutrafin Max, keeps theirs colors and doesnt cloud my water as long as you dont overfeed! Just take time to feed your fish, it deffinatly pays off in the long run!!

i purposely over feed my tank to provide lots of food for snails as i am trying to get their population to explode. I just want a quality clean food.

Omega One. Their flakes do not contain grains and fillers. They use WHOLE salmon and other seafoods. Leftover flakes hold together for a long time in my tanks and do not cloud the water whatsoever. I have their "color" flakes and have to admit that they are the only flakes that I have noticed my fish being brighter, especially my celebes rainbows. I highly recommend any Omega One flake product.

NLS dirtied up my tanks pretty badly using both pellets (goldfish tank) and flakes (community tank). I've since switched over to omega one and have had no problems since.

NLS flakes don't dirty my tank, that's why I have bottom feeders like Cory cats.

I have 8 Cory's and 7 kuhli loaches, snails and more snails, a bn pleco female who is 4 inches.

Its not about bottoms feeders or not. NLS flake food is like dusty when it goes into the water.

feed

as you can see , everyone has a different opinion. You should just buy small containers of different kinds and try them until you find the one you like. Thats what I did.

Be careful what you wish for when trying to increase snail populations or you will soon have to consider the waste from the snail's into the bioload on your filter.
About twelve year's ago I asked my friend who run's fish store for a few trumpet snail's for some clown and yo yo loaches I was keeping, and so it began.

I have probably thousand MTS and my substrate looks alive at time. I have more than sufficient filtration and currently not even that stocked.

Thanks for the advice though. I can do 60g WC in 20 minutes, I don't mind doing them when I need to. But my nitrates only go up about 5ppm a week. I don't dose kno3 either.
