Clean water with dirted tank?

I have two dirted tanks going and I cant seem to keep either tank clean looking. I do water changes and the water will look real nice and within a week I get the tinted water from the dirt. I have had the tanks up and running for about 6 months now. I used MGOPS caped with 1 1/2 inches of fine gravel.

Is this the way it will always be or is there a way to keep this water clear?Helpppppppp!!!

Purigen or active carbon will pull the color from the water.

Out of curiosity, what is the size of your gravel?

The gravel is fairly small. I am using the National Geographic substrate. They call it sand but it is larger than that.

I was thinking that if gravel is too large whatever that's in the dirt could easily escape in the water. Don't know what could be the cause. Never had this problem but I use sand over dirt.
