Fluval 405

i am having problems with my fluval 405. It runs good with nice flow for about a day then it is reduced to a trickle. I clean it and to prime it I run a power head to pump water in the Inlet until there is powerful flow for a few min. Again it will run with good flow for a day or two then slowly reduce to a trickle.

Any ideas what might be wrong. It's a bit of a pain running the power head thru the inlet everyday to keep up the flow...

Thanks

the shaft cavity should b round and should not wooble. and the impellers blades shouldn't be free rotating( should be firmly attached to the magnet)

Broken/missing impeller blades? Seems unlikely since it will work fine for a short period of time; but worth a shot anyway!

Are you sure you're getting all of the air out of the system by using that powerhead? If you shake the filter back and forth after you have it primed, do you get some bubbles out of it and/or hear air moving in the system?

Other than that check the intake/outflow tubes. Maybe something is causing a blockage and it un-clogs when you shut the power to the filter. Then it allows water to flow for a while after starting it up but ends up blocking the flow again?
