10 gallon planted

Ive just set up a low tech planted tank (10 gal). I had a sponge filter with a spray bar attachment but i am in the process of changing filters. Im switching to the standard hob filter that came with the tank. My test results have all been perfect since i set it up but my question is how will i know if i have enough circulation in the tank? I have a pre filter sponge on the intake and a sponge on the outflow. Im against using anything but sponges because it has plenty of plants to absorb waste and excess nutrients, and the plants are providing plenty of oxygen for the low bioload i have. My only concern is the circulation with the hob filter. I do not know the gph flow rate of the new filter, I was just Wondering how i can tell if its enough circulation. Any suggestions are welcome thanks!

Im just wanting to clear up space in the tank but right now i have both running in the tank so i can build up some beneficial bacteria on the new sponges. Final goal for the tank is to get a moss wall in the tank.

My understanding, the flow depends on the type of fish. Bettahs are slow water fish, while the barbs like current. Otherwise, you want enough circulation to get the detritus to the filter inlet and not have a big pile sitting in a corner waiting for the next water change.

Amount of flow is subjective.

If the filter came with the tank, it is probably rated for the 10 gallon. Having said that, different manufacturers rate filters differently. What brand name is it? Tetra?

Good luck!
