Daily inconsistency with Mikwaukee regulator

I am a long time reader of the forums and finally decided to get a pressurized co2 tank. I picked up a MA957 on Craigslist and got a fluval disc on the other end. I also added a check valve near the top of the tank.

I am having issues with consistency each day. I am running at about 20psi and at 2 bps. I get it dialed in and it is fine all day. The issue is the next day when it goes on at first there is a huge rush of bubbles presumably to fill the tube again and then once it stabilizes the bps either off either to high or to low.

What am I doing wrong? I would love to use an inline diffuser but using a HOB filter right now.

Thanks

Just a speculation, but sometimes those disc diffusers are sort of hard to push through if your working pressure is low. Maybe trying increasing the working pressure or going to a small in tank reactor that doesn't have any back pressure?

With a HOB filter how would I do an inline system?

What sort of fluid do you have in your bubble counter? Oil or water? I had a problem in the past very similar to yours. What I ultimately discovered was that my bubble counter oil was getting into the line, and then clogging the diffuser. It caused inconsistency much like what you describe.

It could also maybe be your working pressure is too low. My Atomic diffusers always seem to need 40 or more psi working pressure.

I am using half filled with mineral oil. Not sure how oil would get in the tube.

What is interesting is it is fine all day and then seems to adjust overnight.

I can try setting psi to 40 and using the micro adjuster on the needle. I was worried it would be to much psi.

I set the regulator to a working 30psi yesterday and today it turned on at 2 bps so hopefully that did the trick. Today is the first morning I didn't have to touch anything!
