help with co2

I have been injecting co2 for about 5 months now. I have a ph controller/monitor that has always read 7.6 ph with co2 off at night and I would drop the ph to 6.6 during lighted times. This would give me 30PPm. Now I added 2 pieces of driftwood that I soaked for 6 weeks before adding. Doesnt appear to be releasing any tannins anymore . BUT ! Since adding the driftwood, my ph is 7.0 with lights off period and I lower it to 6.3. Dont know if I am getting the 30ppm I was before adding the wood. How do I tell my co2 PPM now , with the wood altering my ph.

If you want to know your PPM of CO2, your best bet (that isn't expensive) is to put in a drop checker and use that to confirm your tank-water estimates.

If you use a known dKH solution (pre-prepared or made from distilled water and baking soda) in the drop checker you'll have a reference that is independent of your aquarium chemistry. Use that to confirm you're getting to 30ppm (using 4 dKH solution) and dial in your tank pH settings if needed.

The next best thing is to measure pH and dKH of the tank water, but this method is prone to error if your buffering doesn't behave a lot like carbonate (ie: if it is phosphate).
