Your two cents, please!

I'm looking for suggestions for:

A) best plants for planting on a large, somewhat-porous lava rock in a low-tech and rather dark tank;

B) Best way to affix plant to the rock. String won't work, because the rock is way too big. Super glue? Hot glue gun? Other?

Thanks for any advice or ideas!

Rubber band? I did that to an Anubias nana var. petite on rosewood. Alternatively, use lots of black cotton thread, and tie off.

Super glue (gel is easiest to work with) is a good solution for mounting pretty much any plant to any surface. Anubias, java fern and moss are probably your best bets for very low light conditions; depends on just how low a light level you mean by "dark". Bucephalandra will survive in fairly low light levels, and mount beautifully to rock, but their growth rate-already slow-would be reduced to a glacial crawl and you'd likely be waiting 2-3 months for any leaves lost in transition to regrow. Not to mention they're bloody expensive.

+1 for super glue, only takes a little dab.

You might look into mini Bolbitis.
Not cheap, but does well in low light and in "mini" won't overpower the look of the tank.

The shortest distance between any two points is a straight the opposite direction...
