Hmm it doesnt look like floating mulm particles to me. In the last two pics, you can see a lot of it on the very edges of the leaves, specifically the anubias. Looks like...something else. It should be easy to tell if it's actually attached or just sitting there, like dust that has settled.

Re crypts melting. Did you ever get some root tabs? I know you mentioned it before. Mine tend to suffer greatly without them, no matter how much I dose the water column. (substrate is sand)
