Plant/Light advice

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to set up a Fluval Spec V in my office and could use your help. Right now it's just set up with the stock light, and is growing mainly java fern (which is looking amazing with that light) and some moss. The scape is black sand, lace rock, and manzanita branch. It's a nice low maintenance tank, algae-free, but I was thinking about beefing it up a bit... upping the lighting to a "Finnex FugeRay Planted+ Aquarium LED Light Plus Moonlights, Cliplight" and doing a dwarf hairgrass carpet. That said, I don't want it to become more maintenance than I could easily manage at work.

If I added that light, do you think I'd be able to manage growing hairgrass with some fert tabs and excel? Or do you think I'll just end up with an algae disaster if I don't dose ferts daily and get a C02 system?

From what I have read, and heard browsing the forum, Hair grass is a pain in the Mmm to grow. Why not avoid all of the hassle and try to find a substitute that is known to be easier to manage?

I'm mainly just looking to do a carpet. I like the look of dwarf hairgrass and it seems a bit easier than some of the others, plus I think it would go ok with a sand substrate. But I'm definitely open to other options. I've never tried to do a carpet of anything before without daily dosing/C02 injection so I'm not sure if there's a way to grow it and stay low-med maintenance. Thanks for any ideas,
