The Marineland double bright isn't a very bright light, compared to many LED lights. Is the 27 gallon tank a 20" long by 18 inches high tank? If so, that light would give you only 20 PAR or less of light, which is low light, near the minimum needed to grow low light plants.

my friend has two marineland double bright led light fixtures for his 50gallon 36x18x18in tank and he has all high light plants, hc hairgrass ect. Seems to work great for him with two but idk about one
