Co2 bubble clouds

Wondering if this normal / to be expected.

I run my co2 into an eheim powerball to diffuse it seems to work pretty well but lots and lots of tiny micro bubbles. So much so that it makes the tank look sort of hazy after it's been running for an hour or two.

Does anyone else have this? Any way to prevent it?

This can depend on the diffuser and how long the CO2 is in contact with water prior to entering the tank. With a good inline diffuser put low on the outflow tubing, you may not see any bubbles at all.

That being said, I liked the Atomic diffusers when I ran an in-tank diffuser. They seemed to do a good job of creating a fine mist that dissolved quickly.

You could try pre-diffusing the co2 with a chopstick, a piece of cotton ball, or airstone if you have the room. Those Lee's Discard-a-stones are about as narrow as the tubing. That way the propeller is working against many small bubbles instead of one big one. The bubbles that come out will be a lot smaller.

Here's what I used to do when I still used a powerhead. This is just a piece of regular cotton ball packed in there tightly, I later switched to a 1" piece of chopstick.
