75 Gallon Cycle With Small Filter??

Hey guys,
I'm starting my new 75 gal and ordered a canister filter that won't arrive until late next week. I have an extra ten gal hob filter, along with a very heavily planted ten with its own filter. I really want to get a jump start on cycling the 75 and didn't know how well it would work to use seeded media in my extra hob and run it on the 75 until the canister arrives, as well as add some sand/plants/driftwood from the 10. Not putting fish in the 75 during this so im assuming that it wont require much filtration during this, just water movement and bacteria dispersement. Does anyone know if this would even work?

IMO don't bother until you get the canister. Then put some of your seeded media in the bottom of the canister and cap with the fresh media. The bacteria will spread much more quickly.

Once you do that I would use some pure ammonia to feed the bacteria. Or get a few fish. Either way you need ammonia to feed the bacteria so it can grow/spread. Without ammonia to feed it I am pretty sure it will just die off eventually - counteractive to what you want.
