Heater required?

While I don't have fish in my tank, is it alright not to have a heater in there?
Or is it good for the plants to have the heater?
Just wondering cause I might want to use the heater for a different tank while I have no fish in this one.

TIA. (:

It seems most the plants that we use in our tanks do better in cooler water. I keep heaters in my tanks for the fish, otherwise i wouldn't bother using them.

I think a lot of it probably depends on what your water temperature is without a heater, especially how much it fluctuates with no heater if the temp drops a lot at night and stuff

I use heaters because I have pretty small tanks (15g and 5.5g). Otherwise I would have pretty high day/night temperature difference, and that would be good neither for fish nor for plants.

Thanks everyone. I think I'm just going to go ahead and move it into my smaller tank. I'm pretty sure my other tank will be fine with out since no fish are in it anyway.

Thanks so much!
