just planted-algae

Tank set up just over a week and the plants are growing. I am not using CO2 and have added 10 ml of Fluorish the other day. I am getting algae on some of the leaves. Is this to be expected? Should I remove these leaves as new ones that have been out for the last few days are clean. Should I pick up some ottos and Siamese algae eaters also. Only have a few fish in the tank. Thanks for any help.

Just to add I have 3 watt crees over the tank. And have them set at 50%. Should I increase the light?

New tanks freak out for a bit. Give it time. Err on the side of less light until you get it figured out since you don't have co2.

I wouldn't immediately remove the leaves, unless you feel they are so engulfed that they are dying. The algae should dia bak a littel once the tank gets established...assuming there isn't another underlying problem...like too much light.

3W bulbs can be a lot of light depending of course how many and the distance from them to the sub.
With no CO2 you shouldn't need anything like EI ferts but Flourish is only a Micro fert/incomplete.
The plants need all the nutrients to grow properly.
I would investigate the PPS Pro fert system. With any amount of growing plants they will deplete the water/tank of nutrients before long.

The shortest distance between any two points is a straight line...in the opposite direction...

Thanks folks. I did remove some leaves with algae. Also dome dead, yellow leaves. Turned the lights down a shade as well.
