How long can plants last in a bag?

I'll be going to my aunts this or next weekened. Its about 4 hours away. On the way there I will be stopping at Big Als to get some plants.

The problem is, I'll be getting the plants around noon, and they likely will not get to my tank for at least another 8 hours.

So...what should I do to keep them healthy for all that time?

Should I just leave them in the bag?

Should I replace the water in the bag with RO, or dechlorinated tap water every couple hours?

Should I throw all the plants into a big bucket of RO/dechlorinated water?

Or none of the above? What do you think?

They'll be fine. Just don't let them get too hot (in a car, and in this weather, they'll be fine.)

People ship plants, and sometimes it can take longer than a week, so they'll be jus dandy for 8 hours.
