lighting schedule

Okay i have look at some of the people's post on here and from what i see there is alot i can do. I just need to figure out whats best for my plants. I have a 48" coarlife 4*65 watt over my 55 gallon tank. I know if i leave all the light on for 8 hours a day i have algae issues. Manily BBA and something else i haven't identified yet. I have cut down the light and treated the algae and most of it is gone now but i am trying to come up with something to keep this from coming back. I saw the others guys post that is going right now and he is talking about turning turning the light on and off periodicly during the day. What should i do, some options that i have come up with run it a about 5wpg for a shorter amount of time sya like 6 hours or run the 2.5 for longer like 9 or 10 hours. I am looking for the best lighting schedule for my plants. I am currently running the lights for 8 hours about 6 hours at 2.5 wpg and the other two at 5 wpg. If yall need any more info just ask.

try using all the lights for a 4hr "noon burst" in the middle of the period and leave the other on for 8hrs

I have 220 watts over my 55 with pressure CO2 and I have absolutely no algae issues. The problem may be a fertilizer issue more than lighting. What do you fertilize with, and how much do you use? I am using a soil substrate which locks the nutrients out of the water column... If you are dosing the water column, you may want to scale back a bit and maybe do a few large water changes to reset your levels.

i dont a 50% WC every week. I dose NPK, Iron, and PLantex according to rex's scheule for a 40-60 gallon tank. I do think i need to scale back a bit on the iron for sure.
