URGH.....I just brought home a cracked tank.

I just got a 5 Gallon Cube and saw a crack on the top left side. Very small, but I wonder if the crack will get bigger with time?
It's a small crack, but I'm not a structural engineer so I can't judge it's integrity!

I don't know if I should take it back for a return. It's from a LFS store so I don't know how to prove that I didn't crack it myself. This isn't like Petsmart where they just get you a new one.

Moral of the study: check out your tank before you buy.
My question: What should I do?

Take it back.
It certainly wouldn't hurt to try. You'll never stop worrying about that crack.

Take it back. In college i bought my 30 gal tank. After i had filled it up and set up everything i noticed a small crack near the back right corner near the bottom brace. I still use the tank and the crack hasn't gotten bigger but if i could do it again i'd take it back.

Take it back, the quicker the better.

I had a 35 gallon tank sitting around waiting for a stand to be built for a month, when I finally set it up, it cracked right in front of me. Went to take it back (it had a warranty) they wouldn't honour it because it had been in my possession 'too long' before filling.

I'd agree on bringing it back to the store, any store that appreciates its customers should honor the return for you.

I think you got enough feedback on this.... LOL.

How did you make out though?? Did you get it back and get a new one? Let us know!

This is a great learning lesson to us all to inspect what you buy before you walk out the door.

Good luck.
