your probably thinking of an african butterfly fish. they can be pretty aggressive, and you have to feed them crickets. but they look freaking awesome! and also they jump and can glide short distances. hatchets are cool, but i think they jump, too. try a livebearer maybe?

I would go with a group of marble hatchets. I would also be prepared to replace any carper surfers. With open tops, it is just inevitable that one will go for it.

Sounds like a mudskipper to me. They're brackish fish.

Most topwater fish do jump.

You might try male guppies or danios; these tend to spend quite a bit of time in the top level of the tank and jump less than hatchets or killies would.

Personally, I'd stock that tank with a massive school of Congo tetras.

Well, I think it's the four eyed fish which is a brackish fish species.

How about some angel fish? They will look good in that size of tank and are not jumpers.
