Taking pics at night?

I was just curious what was going on and the six white LEDs for nighttime wasn't really letting me see. So I took a small adjustable flash light and put it on dim, and holy moly. My pepperment and gold nugget were out, my big red claw shrimp were out, and it was like a whole other tank. I quickly turned it off so that I hopefully wouldn't freak anyone out.

Is there a way to take pics?

This may not be true for all your inhabitants, but get some more moonlights. I have 2 over my 26 gallon bowfront and a third behind the back pane of the tank that illuminates through the background. I can see pretty much all areas of the tank, but it's not that bright and all of my fish including the nocturnal ones are just fine with it, and i'm pretty much up til the sun starts coming up.

use flash on your camera. That's the easiest solution. Make sure to shoot at an angle above the subject so the flash doesn't bounce back into your camera.

And to let you see what's going on before shooting, put a red lens/filter over your flash light. Color blind animals can't see the red spectrum.

USe RED led moonlights. You can see in, fish can't see red as well as they can blue.
