Moving a planted tank

For the next 3ish months I'll be away at school, but I want to start a planted tank. Will it be a problem to remove all the water/inhabitants and move the tank home for winter break? I'm assuming if I end up buying plants that can grow both emersed/submersed this won't be a problem, but what about plants that only grow submersed?

What's the best way to do this? I live only an hour and a half from home, so the tank won't be broken down for too long.

Just put the plants into a bucket with some tank water to keep them wet and should be ok for that short of time.

I'm fixing to move in 2 days and will be moving 8 planted tanks, (wanna trade places)

When i moved up to school, i just left about 1" of water above the substrate. I'm about 1.5 hours away as well, and the plants did fine (had some to replant, but not much) I even left my rcs colony in there and there were no deaths (that i saw)
