Question addition of co2 section [your opinion matters]

Can we entertain the idea of separation between co2 threads and other equipment?

Before the automatic 'no new forums' response, let's consider the fact the there is a definite difference between the two. Co2 questions are often more complex than "what's wrong with my filter" or "what circulation pump is best". Yes, with co2 you definitely have some equipment but there's a whole lot going on with it and many different situations where folks can error. Just count all threads regarding some co2 questions. There a lot. ..

In my opinion, co2 enrichment is a major enough topic to have its own forum. I'll admit that I'm sightly bias on the subject and I would be willing to listen to an argument insisting that co2 is the same general equipment and belongs in the same forum.

I don't see any reason to make a whole new forum, but the equipment sticky at the top of the forum possibly could use some updates if anyone else has some good links to suggest.

Or wants to create a new FAQ to direct people to when bombarded with questions.

Considering the fact that co2 is one part of the proverbial three-legged stool when it comes to planted tanks - light, ferts, co2 - and there are boards dedicated to the other two, to me it makes sense to also have a co2 board. I mean, we have a substrate board for goodness sakes.

You do primarily low tech tanks, right? Sorry, that's not meant as any type of slander. But I find it hard to believe someone that probably never had any type of co2 issue would feel the need for that information to be easier to find.

That would make a good addition to the new high tech section!

Mods have discussed and aren't closed to the idea, but don't see a clear need for one, either.

Personally I think a CO2 forum would make more sense than a high tech forum.

I think a vast majority probably never hit up this particular board unless they have an issue. Personally, I always jump off from "new posts" which encompasses all the boards, but I bet a lot of people that would have an opinion one way or the other never see the thread. It only has 75 views in 3 days, seems like you're basically talking to staff on this board.

I'll move the thread into the General discussion forum if you think that will make a difference.

Well, there's currently 292 people viewing the general discussion board, and 3 viewing this one. Seems like if you want an actual discussion from the user base it'd do better over there.

I don't know. It just made sense to me. There are roughly 10 threads in the 1st page of the equipment forum that are co2 questions and few more in the general questions forum. That's really normal. If those threads had a better place to go, the traffic in the equipment forum would be cut down significantly (by a 1/3 probably). It wouldn't cause more moderation. It would basically just split it between the two sections and perhaps cut down on a couple other forums a little bit to.

Like I said, I thought it was a good idea but if no one really cares/agrees with me then it's just a lost cause anyway.

Hi All,

Like burr740 I too jump into the forum from 'New Posts' however I think that oldpunk78 made a good suggestion, certainly worth a discussion. burr740's comment about high tech tanks being similar to a three legged stool is absolutely spot on.

Alright.... so, this thread got moved so it would get more exposure. Either one or two things have happened. One, it got moved to a section where there are mostly newbies asking newbie questions and they don't care to begin with or two, I'm pushing an idea that only I think would be helpful to the forum.

I can't figure out if it's one or two - haha.
