Nice write up about fishless cycling, bacteria in general

http://skepticalaquarist.com/fishless-cycling

I like his blog, technical writer, and some of the stuff he's posted in 2011 before todays articles and work is showing accuracy so its neat to see his writings in hindsight. I liked the sourcework for fishless cycling dating back to 1999

the wheel has been reinvented a few times over and over in aquarium science

very very neat stuff about 1800's era aquariums are cited as well in other blogs on his page. good general knowledge, I didnt find anything slammable, he looks solid w what he writes.

also, what he says about bacteria and their omnipresence is old school accurate, you dont see that a lot on the boards even today. Nitrifiers truly are everywhere, I like this posters science writings thought you might find some of his writings neat.

I raised some eyebrows when I revealed in a web forum that I hadn't been ransacking my neighborhood in a search for a pure non-sudsing ammonia with no added dyes and perfumes, when I could always produce at least a few drops of a completely natural, though more personal, source of ammonia.
Heh.

Nope. If you don't have a reliable source of bacteria to basically insta-cycle then fishless is the way to go. No need to put any fish thru the stress of a cycle.

I like that site as well, lots of good information, and everything I've read on there seems pretty well thought out.

I've also linked to that article on fishless cycling.
