Crazy question about DI co2/ bubble counter/ increased output

so i added a bubble counter tonight to my yeast/co2 setup. previously the line from the container with the yeast mix went directly to my reactor.

since adding the bubble counter my co2 output has greatly increased. its been spitting out co2 from the reactor almost nonstop for two hours.

i'm kind of baffled. i cant imagine just adding a bubble counter would make such a diference. the mix is several days old and was spitting out bubbles once every thirty seconds or so before the bubble counter. now its every 5-10 seconds.

i did very lightly shake the bottle when i unplugged the airline to replace it....other than that nothings changed. this unusual? what happened? it hasn't produced co2 lik this since maybe an hour after the mix was fresh....

Chances are that the mixture had forced all O2 out of the bottle in adding the bubble counter you allowed More O2 to enter and it Activated the mixture, in home wine making the first 1 of fermenting is Often done covered but stirred daily to add O2 to the mixture Or just covered with a cheese cloth then transferred to a sealed glass carboy to finish up the process.

The O2 cause a "Burst" of Fermentation if you will.
