Cat Problems

Hi:

My cat has now actually figured out a way to remove the lid to the nano aquarium with her paw in order to drink out of the aquarium. It has a glass versa lid.

I am thinking duct tape? That would be annoying but...

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Thanks.

I would suggest trying to discourage you cat from getting close enough to your tank to be able to drink. Double sided tape around the edges where he/she normally stands would do the trick, kitties do not appreciate sticky paws.

You can use that plastic carpet runner stuff too. Turn it upside down so the pointy nubs are sticking up. It works to keep them from jumping on counters and tables.

I just let mine drink out of it. It's good clean water and kitties like moving water.

Spray bottle to the face every time he/she gets near it.

Or just replace it with a dog.

As well as trying to keep the cat from removing the lid, you might consider investing in a cat water fountain. I have one for my 3 cats and they love it! It provides them with clean, filtered water at all times. They will drink out of the flowing water itself as well as the pool at the bottom. If your cat has easy access to this she might just forget about the tank.

Ha! I use ssssssCat to keep my Maine Coon out of anywhere I do not want her. It is an adjustable, motion activated spray (not harmful) which you can move anywhere and it works!

< not a cat person. Lol

I bet an air soft gun would be pretty effective too. (Not too such about the humaneness)

My mom used to use a spay bottle with pretty good success. I guess the trick is to not let them see you doing it.

My cat loves tank water too, I just got plastic clips for the tank off of Amazon.

For around fifteen bucks they sell a motion detector attached to a can of air that goes, pssssst, when a cat gets within range. You only have yo use it for a few days and your kitty will steer clear. ....Ahh, I see that All4Fish already mentioned it. They work really well. All animals are great as far as I'm concerned. I just don't get how anybody can hate an animal. I suppose I would hate dingos if one of them ate my baby. :-)

I wouldn't make the jump to calling someone cat haters. I just happen to prefer dogs. Thousands of years ago cats were worshipped as gods, and they have never forgotten this.
