Pearling/bubbles

All my plants just started releasing bubbles, what a sight! Is that good or bad? Bubbles are all over the 120 gallon tank. No water change done, just started bubbling..

It means thet the water in your tank can not soak up any more oxygen that the plants have released.

Search pearling.

Is that something to be concerned about? Do I have to shut off my CO2? I don't get much returns on pearling.

Yes, plants convert Co2 into oxygen during photosynthesis. Photsynthesis starts to occur soon after the lights are turned on (lighting is the catalyst) some time after (just depends on how intense your lighting is) the water will saturate with oxygen. When this happens the bubbles will will start to appear.

Pearling is cool but not necessary for good plant growth.

I've always assumed and read that pearling occurs once the water is supersaturated with oxygen.

Is this really the case, though? Is it also possible that pearling occurs when plants are producing oxygen faster than can be absorbed into the water column even with less-than maximum oxygen saturation in the water?

ok bear with me here

is there ever a time that the water is so super saturated that it will not let the plants produce any more oxygen, therefore preventing them from growing? or do they just pearl and keep on producing?

I would say no. The only way it could happen would be if the water column was absolutely void of CO2. And that would not happen under normal circumstances as the plants could not saturate the water column to that point without sufficient CO2.

But someone smarter may say otherwise.
