Soak it in Bleach water overnight, Scrub all dirt and crud off etc, rinse well, then Boil for an hour or two and it should be tank safe as can be(let it cool before putting in the tank)

No. Can you tell me about it? I haven't heard of that method..

I hope boiling removes all the bleach.

To remove the bleach, just rinse, rinse, rinse, then soak in a bucket with 4x dechlor(I use prime, and would HIGHLY recomend you invest in it--you will likely save money even if you have to order it). I wouldn't bother boiling. Bleach is a sterilizer, boiling sterilzes.

It's muriatic acid, aka hydrochloric acid

I've always been told that regular vinegar can be used to test the rocks as well.

There has been some debate about this, as vinegar may not be strong enough. I've always used muriatic acid, mainly because I always have access to it, and I am more sure of the results

I figured it was. I just wanted to make sure the OP knew what you were talking about

If the acid fizz's you don't put the rock in the tank.
