Help me start my 40g breeder right!

I will be starting up my new 40 gallon breeder here in the next week or two and I need some help.

Here is the tank and stand (DIY just finished)

I'm planing on buying this for my filtration

(If anybody has used this let me know)

I already have my light it's a PC 2x55watt 9325K

Not sure about CO2 yet, DIY or Pressurized. I have a DIY 2 liter bottle on my 36 corner than seems to work OK.

I'm gonna be getting one of these timers also. I have one on my 36 corner and I love it.

As for Substrate I'm probably gonna go with 4 bags of Seachem Flourite Black. I will probably be getting it from Big Als(they seem to be the best priced.

I think I want to go with a Iwagumi style set-up. As for foreground I want to use either HC or Glossostigma. Which one has better growth with around 3wpg?
And as for backround plants I'm thinking either Italian Val or Hairgrass. Better for 3wpg?

I would love as much help as I can get.

Thanks

Odyssea is the cheapo brand with usually poor reliability. Run a forum search on Odyssea/Jebo (same mfgr) and you'll get all kinds of feedback, quite a bit of it negative.

I'd go with a Rena XP3 or an Eheim 2215, personally.

Good job on the DIY stand! I have been looking all over for a good wooden stand to fit the 36x18 dimension of the 40 breeder.

I agree with the concerns on the filter because I have never heard of this brand.

I was thinking that the XP2 would be good.
