tank sealant has film build up

Hi Everyone,

It's been awhile since I've been on but maybe you guys can help me out. I recently bought a 3gallon tank and the silcone sealant on the sides of the tank have this whiteish film that keeps building up. I scrubed all the stuff off( it comes of real easy ) a couple of times and filled back with water ,only to find the build up again in a couple of days? Do you guys think there is something wrong with the silicone? the betta that's in their hasn't died yet? Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Thanks, for the reply. I've been raising fish since I was a small kid and I don't ever recall my bigger tanks doing that. I was just wondering if it's because of the brand ( some chinese brand).

I've never had a tank do that, it would certainly make me nervous... perhaps they used the wrong type of silcone? Might be a good idea to keep a close eye on it- if they used the type of silicone that's meant for bathroom use it often has antifungals and antibiotics mixed in that aren't safe in an aquarium.
