High Tech Lighting, How much is too much light?

is their a point with High tech tanks where their is too many WPG? if so how do you determine what that point is. For example 10g tank,co2 ferts, is 6 WPG 6500k To much light? SO 60 watts over 10g.

No, 60w on a 10g is not too much light. There is a point where there is too much wattage over a tank though - like put a 150w HQI 1" over a 10g, for example.

So how do you know when your reaching that "Too Much Point" Other than the obvious like the 150w MH overkill thing.

I've put 72W of PC lighting over a 10g and managed it fine. When I put 3x36W over the tank was when I got in trouble.

That "overkill" point also depends on your tank size. Small tanks (<10g) need more WPG, larger tanks generally require less WPG, etc...it's not a steadfast rule and also depends on your equipment and fertilization schedule.

Depends on your tank and your goals.

2.4wpg was too much over my 10gal low tech. I went back to 1.8wpg and was very happy.
