correct way to start a moss wall

I want to cover the entire left side of my 5.5 with a mix of java/singapore moss and create a moss wall. i plan to tie all that moss down to the canvas with powerpro instead of covering it with another piece. is this the correct way to start it? i left the one part bare because that will be buried in the substrate to anchor it.

Correct way is to use black grid and use Christmas moss. White always shows through and Java is too thin in the fronds, IMHO.

Old 2.5g tank of mine with the above:

I would spread the moss on the grid out more. It will look sparse but in the long run it will fill in faster. I have used the white grid and it covered just fine. As the moss grows you can trim it and place it on any bare spots. Then sit back. I did not see what your lights or ferts were but these are pretty easy moss. Be Patient and good luck

That should help the moss grow well. I know I started with a lot of moss spread out now I have a jungle I have to remove from my tank and trim in a bucket so I don't have starts every where in the tank. I love moss and Fissiden's.

I have a moss small moss wall in my 45g I don't like how wild it grows (christmas moss). It does not break apart and float everywhere like Java moss (IMHO). I love fissiden F. It stays short. Here is a pic of my small moss wall. I am going to inlarge it. I will be looking for a ROAK of moss from some of the folks here.

In pic on the left is non trimmed out of control Fissiden by the rock is (small round ball is Subwassertang. You can see both of these on the moss rope site.

Here is some of my favorite moss sites.
