Welp, changed the tank up. What do you think?

It's quite a simple scape that still has tons of room for improvement but I feel it's a step in the right direction.

I'm looking for ideas on what to do for the left side and some much different planting options because I'm getting tired of staring at crypts.

My current lighting is a single t5ho bulb sitting directly on top of the tank but plan on buying another and possibly raising the fixture. I'm also doing diy co2.

Nice tank, the crypts all look like they are doing well. I'm no hardscape expert, so I'll refrain on advice there. What is your background for the tank? It has a silver look in the pics, but prob just the reflection I'm seeing?

I'm really not trying to be rude but the foil has got to go.. if you're after the reflective background? Get a mirror and silicone it on! That looks cook and you can see everything behind the plants.. scape looks solid, I'd shift the dw up a bit to replace natural placements

Yea I don't like the foil either but my tank is right next to two windows as you can see.

Was hoping nobody said to move the drift wood lol. I have it buried in the back with sand.

What's cof? I mean I'm sure I could move the wood but it rests perfectly on the rocks it sits on so I just kept it like that and just filled my retaining wall with sand for the elevation.

But what about ideas for the left side? Should I add more wood? Couple smaller rocks?

And plants, what plants can make such a simple hardscape look really good?

You could post your extras on a local message board, a new thread in this one (with location title to help find local), or craigslist and see if anyone is willing to buy or trade you for it.

Personally I love the right side in those first pics. The empty space created by that flat rock along with the driftwood makes a nice effect of depth.

I agree that foil needs to go. If you need to block out light try some poster board. Im a big fan of black, but any dark earth tones usually look good. At 25 cents a sheet you can afford to try a few different ones.

You could try some taller plants behind the crypts on the left side, a few stems maybe in a different shade of green or red or brown. Ludwigia repens comes to mind.

Or even some poster board in front of the foil.

What about something tallish?

Ah, poster board that's a great idea. I like the right side as well I just think the left side looks plain but stem plants like you were saying would make it look good. I feel like these crypts are just too big lol
