Just set up my pressurized co2!! got a Question tho.

Like the title says I just set up my pressurized co2 system. I noticed however that the solenoid is a bit warm tho... Is this cause for concern? I can keep my finger on it for about a second of two before it gets too hot for comfort. Is this normal or a problem and what should I do?

thanks, Andrew.

Normal.
A solenoid is essentially an electric magnetic coil that pushes a rod when energized. A spring returns the solenoid to the original position when the coil is de-energized.
We use normally closed solenoids(so that if the solenoid fails the spring will close the valve). While the solenoid is opening the valve, there is electrical current passing through the coil(generating the magnetic field that opposes the spring). The electrical coil is essentially a large wire. Wires get warm when you pass electricity through them(think of an incandescent light bulb).

While it is "normal" (to a certain extent), an abnormally hot solenoid can cause a decreased lifespan.

There are certain lower wattage solenoids that run cooler and avoid this problem.
