American Flag fish

Hi guys!

Anyone here keeping an american flag fish? thinking of getting 4 for my 75gal heavily planted with 30% hair algae

Can you tell me your experience with them eating algae or bullying other fish

Thanks

They're great little fish and they're very interesting. They will eat hair algae until they can't eat anymore. Their behavior is kind of interesting and sort of like angelfish. They can be as docile as can be or they can be aggressive.

I would imagine a 75 gallon aquarium with plenty of territory will help curb their aggression.

I just posted in your other thread, but algae and plants if I'm not mistaken are their main diet in the wild.
So if you have plants you love becareful, they nip them a lot.

The male I had was territorial and bullied my community fish to near death, but I only had him in a 10g.
I'm sure a 75g is much more apt for them.

I have 5 in a 65g and they are model citizens. They don't eat any of my plants as far as I can tell and keep driftwood clean (mine took care of my BBA too). They are very interesting fish and are more like dwarf cichlids than killies behavior wise.

Well that's just like.........your opinion man.

In their defense, they ARE from Florida, so it makes sense that they act like hippies right up until they set your car on fire in front of your children.
