Test kits which ones the best??

I need to buy a test kit and would like to know what you guys thing is the best one. Thanks in advance.

he's right; lamotte test kits are the best but you have to pay! If you decide to get a less expensive test, mix up some reference solutions to ensure the results you are getting are accurate. A simple search for "mixing reference solutions" should yield plenty of results.

Those Lamottes are really expensive! (Looks for second job to pay for fish hobby) I think I'll have to go with a cheaper variety. Currently I pay the Local fish store $.50 a week to test it for me. Could I do that to test for accuracy? I will also try to do the refence thing, I looked up your old post for that, it looks complicated, but I think I can figure it out.

I use an API Freshwater Master Test Kit. I'm sure that it's no Lamotte, but it's worked pretty well for me:

I also use API at the moment, but my next kits will be Seachem. Different test kits can measure different compounds (especially when dealing with ammonia, nitrIte, and nitrAte compounds) and since I've switched to using Seachem products in my tank (Prime, Purigen, etc) I want to make sure that my test kit readings are accurate.

Cole is dead on about using reference solutions.
