My Ich Treatment (and also a question)

Hi:

I am doing an Ich Treatment. This is it so far:

4 Days of Malachite Green
1 Week of Heat (86 degrees)
4 Days of Malachite Green
5 Days of Heat (86 degrees)

All for a solid Two Weeks

I am currently on the first heat cycle. So far all inhabitants (and most plants) are okay, including Julii Cory Cats. Dwarf Frogs were temporarily relocated before treatment began.

Of course I do not see any Ich on the fish, but I am well aware of the cycle. I am considering raising my heat to 90. (Edited - okay I just upped my heat to 89)

I do have one question: I did take out the carbon filter for this. However, all articles say to put the carbon filter back in when the treatment is done. Aren't there Ich Protozoa in the carbon filter? I am just curious because it is something I am wondering. I am considering putting the carbon back in for the heat treatments. However, does it not contain Ich?

Thanks.

I would check your water parameters (Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates). In my experience I was able to cure fish with no medication by insuring the above 3 were not present. I would also do 30% to 50% water change if any of these are present. If this a planted tank try to get the nitrates around 5 to 10ppm, this is dependent on how fast your plants absorb them.
